Film Contest Finalists Compete for $50,000 in Prizes

feature_linkcontestCongratulations to the finalists in the “One Nation, Many Voices” online film contest! Thousands of users visited the film contest Web site (www.onenationfilmcontest.org), casting more than 18,000 votes for their favorite entries. Six finalists were selected in each of the six categories: Animation/Music, Comedy, Documentary, Drama, Under 60 Seconds, and Youth.

“We received an overwhelming response from Los Angeles to Jacksonville to Washington DC and are very pleased with the diversity and quality of entries we received,” said Kim Spencer, President of Link TV, the national television channel dedicated to providing Americans with global perspectives on news, events and culture and a cosponsor of the contest. “Viewing the films that were submitted across the various categories makes us realize that the stories of the American Muslim community are the stories of the American experience itself.”

“Our hope is that this online film contest will provide a platform to continue that search for common ground among all Americans, both Muslim and non-Muslim, observant and non-traditional, Americans of faith and those who choose to express their spirituality in other ways,” he added.

A distinguished panel of judges including journalist Mariane Pearl, actor Danny Glover, comedian Azhar Usman, former Laker great and NBA Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and philanthropist Sara Abbasi will review the finalists to select a winner in each category as well as a grand prize winner, who will be awarded a $25,000 cash prize and a filmmaker debut on Link TV. Winners will be announced on Feb. 2
