"The Colors of Veil" follows the story of Kimberly King, a former U.S. solder and church worker who converted to Islam and proposed marriage to the imam of her Baltimore area mosque. The imam, Mohamad Bashar Arafat, accepted her proposal and today they have children together and run a Baltimore-based interfaith organization as a husband and wife team.
Harney decided to make a 5-minute film about King to highlight her contributions as an American-born white female Muslim – a population that is underrepresented in media portrayals of Muslims.
