Muslim spiritual leader meets with Barack Obama |

The spiritual leader of the Islamic Center of America of Dearborn, Michigan, met with Barack Obama during the presidential candidate’s visit to Michigan on May 14. Imam Hassan Qazwini is the spiritual head of the largest mosque in North America; one-third of Dearborn’s population is Arab American.
The two men held a private meeting where they discussed the presidential election, the Arab-Israeli conflict and the war in Iraq. The imam gave Obama a copy of his book, American Crescent, and invited him to visit the Islamic Center.
Imam Qazwini has also met a number of times with President Bush and other elected officials.
