About One Nation

One Nation...with liberty and justice for all.

This is America's great promise, and one that has held our nation together through periods of great social and political change, from the Civil War to the civil rights movement of the 1960s.

Today, we are a nation divided by difference. In the post-9/11 era, negative perceptions of Muslims and Islam have increased. Abraham Lincoln once warned, "a house divided against itself cannot stand." Our vision at One Nation is to bridge the divide by integrating the voices and viewpoints of the American Muslim community into the national conversation, including their stories, their faith, and their contributions to American society.

What is One Nation?

One Nation is a philanthropic collaborative with the vision of fostering a national conversation about the common values we share as Americans, regardless of how we choose to express our spirituality. One Nation sponsors projects--such as this Web site--that challenge stereotypes and misperceptions of Muslims and Islam by shining a spotlight on our shared values, beliefs and responsibilities. Other projects in development include films that highlight the diversity and life experiences of the American Muslim community.

One Nation is led by Muslims and non-Muslims from leading nonprofit public education and advocacy organizations, think tanks, corporations and academic institutions. Meet our Board of Advisors.
