Muslim Youth Group Kicks Off Nationwide Concert Tour

The Muslim American Society’s Youth Division (MAS Youth) kicked off a national summer concert tour on June 7 in Tampa, Florida, featuring hip-hop group Outlandish. The MAS Youth “Voices for Change” tour will travel to Chicago, Detroit, New York, Los Angeles and Dallas in June.

This year MAS Youth chose to feature Outlandish because of their popularity and reputation for positive and inspirational hip-hop lyrics with no profanity or offensive content, and no references to drugs, alcohol, or violence. The Denmark-based group consists of three longtime friends--two Muslims and one Christian. The musical group has performed at other socially conscious concerts including last year’s Concert for Peace in Darfur. In 2003, the Outlandish single Aicha hit #1 on the single and radio charts in Germany and received multiple gold awards. The album Bread & Barrels of Water sold nearly 250,000 copies in Europe.

MAS Youth hopes to spread a message encouraging positive change to all without regard to creed or color—and especially to young people—using music as a platform for shared understanding.
