Fast Facts: One Nation

One Nation...with liberty and justice for all. That's America's great promise--eloquently put forth by our founding fathers. That promise has held our nation together through periods of great social and political change - from the Civil War to the civil rights movement of the 1960s.

In the post-9/11 era, negative attitudes of Muslims and Islam have increased. We are once again a nation divided by difference. Abraham Lincoln once warned the nation that "a house divided against itself cannot stand." Our vision at One Nation: to bridge the divide by offering a snapshot of the American Muslim community - the people, their faith, their hopes and dreams.

We hope you will join us in our efforts to secure the blessings of liberty for all Americans regardless of race, gender or religion.

What is One Nation?

One Nation is a philanthropic collaborative with the vision of fostering a conversation among all Americans about the common values that we share as Americans regardless of how we choose to express our spirituality. One Nation sponsors initiatives - such as this Web site - that challenge stereotypes and misperceptions of Muslims and Islam by shining a spotlight on our shared values, beliefs and responsibilities.

One Nation is led by Muslims and non-Muslims from leading nonprofit public education and advocacy organizations, think tanks, corporations and academic institutions.
