"New Muslim Cool" Broadcast Premiere June 23rd on PBS Print E-mail

"New Muslim Cool" follows Hamza Perez, a Puerto Rican American Muslim rapper, as he navigates the paths of religion, race, politics and culture which intersect his life in post-9/11 America.
The documentary kicks off P.O.V.'s 22nd season on PBS on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 10 p.m. The P.O.V. series is broadcast June through September, with primetime specials in the fall and winter. 

In addition to its premiere on PBS, "New Muslim Cool" will premiere on Thursday, June 18 at the Film Society of Lincoln Center's Independents Night , co-sponsored by P.O.V. and the Human Rights Watch International Film Festival.  Director Jennifer Maytorena Taylor and main characters Hamza and Suliman Pérez in person, Q&A session, and a reception follows the screening.

It will also be showing at the Museo del Barrio in East Harlem on June 20th for a Rooftop Films screening.
