Afdhere Jama grew up in Somalia. He is a progressive Muslim who lives in California. His film, "Ani" was a finalist for the American Muslim Women category.

"Ani" is about a Muslim woman activist finds voice through the arts and leads her community in reclaiming the ideal Islam. Born in Malaysia and raised all over the world, Zuriani Zonneveld AKA Ani is an acclaimed international singer-songwriter, community organizer and a full-time mom & wife.
