What's New in the American Muslim Community

2008 Film Contest Grand Prize Finalist: A Dangerous Idea Print E-mail

Rania Ajami is a Lebanese filmmaker based in New York and London. Her film, "A Dangerous Idea " was a finalist for the American Muslim Life category.

Her films include a feature documentary on Qaddafi's female bodyguards entitled "Shadows of a Leader" and a comedy feature called "Asylum Seekers" about six people trying to escape the madness of the world by enrolling in a mental institute. She is currently working on her next feature film, "My Eyes Through Carnage" to be shot in Libya.

"A Dangerous Idea" is about how laid-back convenience store owner, his religious son and their "business savvy" friend argue over whether chemicals can be haram (forbidden), and over the Muslim legacy in New York City.
