Muslim Men Against Domestic Abuse Print E-mail

Muslim Men Against Domestic Abuse (MMADA) is an organization dedicated to domestic tranquility. According to the Web site, a member will "make a commitment never to engage in, support, or remain silent about the physical, psychological, and emotional abuse of Muslim and non-Muslim women and children."

Established in February 2009, MMADA aims to provide educational resources and serve as a tool for advocacy. Recognizing that domestic abuse is merely a symptom of much larger social, institutional, and individual pathologies, the organization seeks to identify and eradicate its root causes.

As a visitor to the MMADA Web site, one can sign a virtual "pledge" where one will vow to "never to engage in, support, or remain silent about the physical, psychological, and emotional abuse of Muslim and non-Muslim women and children." In addition to the pledge, MMADA's blog highlights important issues such as defining abuse and has started a contest for "MMADA's Man of the Year."

To promote the organization, MMADA has started an ad campaign on Metacafe, Youtube, and Revver.
