In coordination with the Asia Society and New York University Center of Dialogues, BAM proudly presents Muslim Voices: Arts & Ideas. Muslim artists and speakers from as far away as Asia, Africa and the Middle East, and from as near as Brooklyn, will gather for an unprecedented ten-day festival and conference, offering New York audiences the opportunity to experience the cultural diversity and multiple perspectives that represent the Muslim world.

Muslim Voices will include various musical acts, films and live discussions throughout the entirety of the festival. Featured live discussions will include acclaimed author Reza Aslan, who will discuss Islam in the context of history, faith, ideology, and culture with Asia Society President Vishakha Desai. Senegalese artist Youssou N’Dour will kick off Muslim Voices: Arts & Ideas, performing songs with his band The Super Étoile that draw on his Islamic beliefs, African heritage and global experience. In addition to the festival, the conference, Bridging the Divide Between the United States and the Muslim World through Arts and Ideas: Possibilities and Limitations, will take place in New York City on June 6-7. NYU Center for Dialogues presents this event as an academic, cultural and policy conference that will bring together approximately 50 artists, producers, religious and community leaders, scholars and policy makers from the Muslim world, the United States and Europe.

PBS' channel Thirteen will also air two films – "New Muslim Cool " and "Mosque in Morgantown " – during the week to coincide with the festival.
